Happy New Year!
Today I am going to share with you my writing goals for the first quarter of the year.
I use a goals journal called the “Best Self” journal. Browse and get excited about it by clicking here.
Basically it takes the premise of “time blocking,” or scheduling out every hour of the day, for productivity and goal-reaching. You set a goal, or three, and plot out clear to-dos to get there.
For example:
Result goal: Complete revisions on Hot Mess #1
This is important to me because: I am sick of looking at it. Seriously, though, I can resubmit to publishers and start writing the third Hot Mess and revising Hot Mess #2.
Progress goals: Spend 3 hours a week revising. Attend weekly write-ins 3x a month. Prepare for submission.
Action tasks:
For number one: pack my computer for after-work writing, schedule revision time on my calendar, track progress with my wall chart (that came with the journal.)
For number two: Start a new creative project to keep from getting bored and frustrated, attend classes at my local writing center, schedule write-ins on the calendar.
For number three: Review literary agents guide. Revise synopsis. Revise author bio.
Now, of course, what’s left is to do it.
